3… 2… 1… HAPPY NEW YEAR!
It seems that as soon as the ball drops in New York City, people are already setting out to make their New Year’s Resolutions a reality. However, come February, only 30% of those resolutions are still alive! Isn’t that insane?
What’s even more insane is that people’s career goals are often lumped into these New Year’s Resolutions, only to be forgotten by the time spring rolls around. As a remote career coach this obviously saddens me. So this year, I’m here to tell you that your career goals actually have nothing to do with completing your resolutions for 2019.
But 2019 is MY year to go remote. I’m definitely going to work from home FINALLY! So it’s my number one New Year’s Resolution. Have I done something wrong?
Nope. You’re completely right. 2019 is your year to finally get that remote job you’ve been dreaming of. But there’s a better way to get this done! Save the daily habits that you want to change for your New Year’s Resolutions. However, the career goals you have belong somewhere else.
Vision casting is when you creatively imagine your lifestyle with your specific goal having been met. You then ground this vision, taking it from imagination to reality. You focus on the person you are going to become by working hard towards this vision, a plan of action that you can take to bring your vision to life, and what it will feel like when you’ve achieved it.
Vision casting can include creating a vision board, writing/journaling, recording audio or video about your vision, meditation, or even a cacao ceremony. Whatever creative process allows you to dream about your vision in full completion… do it! If you want tips on how to create a vision board that helps you manifest your goals, check out this video training by Manifestation Babe.
You can cast your vision alone at first. But then it is imperative to tell others! When you actually share your vision with the people who matter in your life, you automatically commit to making the vision a reality. It seems way more set in stone when you speak those words out loud to friends or family. But how do you completely ground this vision, so that it comes to fruition?
Grounding Your Vision
What do I mean by grounding? Well, it’s not just enough to cast a vision that inspires you to make moves toward your goals every day. It’s great, don’t get me wrong. But this is where people usually fall short. Specifically, this is why New Year’s Resolutions get left in the dust, and why your career goals are going to be DIFFERENT this year.
Grounding your vision can be done in multiple ways. Again, it depends on how creative you are and your comfort with the process. Think of your vision as an entity that is up in the clouds. You need to bring it closer down to Earth so that you can access it and experience it in reality (making your dreams come true).
Here are some ideas that can take your vision a step further:
- Ask your family or friends to hold you accountable. To complete this step, you need to do more than just state your dreams out loud to a friend. Actually ask that person to check in on your goals at a certain point in the year. How about February first? How about weekly? How about daily? It depends on your goal. All you have to do is ASK!
- Create an action plan that you can follow.
This involves breaking down your big goal into mini steps that can be completed over time. The more clear your action plan is, the more achievable your goals become.
- Seek help from your role models / experts in your field.
Don’t be afraid to admit that you don’t know it all! If you are struggling to come up with action steps to reach your goal, ask an expert. If you’re not sure which order to follow your mini steps, do some research online. Enroll in a course or hire a coach if you need one.

Watch Out! A Common Pitfall Is…
One of the biggest mishaps in the world of goal setting, is that we end up focusing too much on the “how is this going to be possible?” or “I don’t know how long this will take or if I’ll even achieve it.” These are thoughts that come from your LACK MINDSET.
Simply put, your brain is operating on the belief that there isn’t enough possibility, money, luck, success, and resources in this world to make your dreams come true. Therefore when you think about your goals (even when you’re writing them with positive words), you focus on the gap between where you are now and where you want to be. You end up thinking about the lack of having that money, that job, that relationship, that self confidence, right now… instead of the goals you want to reach and how you’ll feel when you get there.
This happens to everyone. It’s completely normal! But what you focus on, you find. What you stress about expands. And what you give attention to, flows to you on a path of least resistance. So… how about focusing on the vision instead.
Manifest Your Goals Daily
Operating from an ABUNDANCE MINDSET allows you to cast your vision, make an action plan, and know that everything that you need to achieve that goal already lies within you or could be immediately available to you. It just needs activation.
Say it with me: “There are enough remote jobs out there for everyone who wants one.”
“The right career for me is out there. All I need to do is show up with my 100% authentic self, and I will find my match.”
“If I don’t get a job offer, it means that it was not the right opportunity for me. I’m getting closer to my match.”
“I like knowing that my intuition is my guide as I search for the right career in 2019. I trust my intuition.”
These are all positive affirmations or mantras that you can use in your daily manifestation practices. This kind of positive self talk is the definition of the abundance mindset. If you can keep yourself in that state of mind, you will achieve your goals with more ease. Give it a try!
I’ve even got a mindset section in my course (The No Bullshit Road To Remote Work) because it’s THAT important. Those who master this, get remote jobs that are fulfilling, well paying, and fit well with their lifestyle vision. Those who don’t STRUGGLE. Point blank.
You don’t have to struggle any longer. I’ve got your back! Enroll in the course and take 30% off with the code PRENEWYEAR during Dec 30th and 31st.
